1. Make sure you have OBSE installed and installed correctly. This is listed in the requirements, both in the description and the readme.
2. If you are using a No-CD crack and you're using OBSE, this mod isn't going to work for you because OBSE isn't going to work correctly. A No-CD crack modifies the original .exe and OBSE won't hook the modified .exe where it's supposed to. This makes things get very ugly.

1. INSTALLING THE FILES
*************************
If you downloaded the OMOD version simply extract that archive that in the OBMM/Mods folder, start OBMM, and activate the GGIlli OMOD.
If you chose the manual method:
1- Unzip both the sound file and .esp archives to your OblivionData directory
2- When launching the game, select data files and click
on GGIlli.esp to make it active

2. Mod Description
*******************
Illi is a fully functioning companion designed as a promotion for the Underdark - The Realm of Northdark mod. This gives you a chance to have a mindslayer as a companion and witness the offensive arnsenal these things possess from the perspective of an ally rather than as a target. Illi has no romance and no quest.
No need to find Illi. He'll find you if you're in an exterior cell and start up a conversation with you. I know it's tedious, but go all the way through the initial spiel or you won't get his summon/recall spell.
If there's things you would prefer to do without Illi, you can do one of three things.
1. You can use the "Go Home" dialogue option to send him to any of the stock Oblivion houses you own.
2. You can use the "Go to an inn/tavern" dialogue option to send him to 5 different inns/taverns:
Anvil - The Count's Arms
Bruma - Olav's Tap and Tack in Bruma
Cheydinhal - Cheydinhal Bridge Inn
Imperial City - Luther Broad's Boarding House
Leyawiin - Three Sisters Inn
3. You can set a home marker and have him return to that point at a later time (Available through the travel options dialogue menu). This is useful for modded houses.
*** WARNING ***
Illi can kill you, and will if you use him for a sparring partner. The first time you hit him more than 3 times out of combat, you get a cool off period. You cannot fast travel or summon Illi for 2 days after that. The second time you tee off on him, outside of combat, he will kill you via EssentialDeathReload. Heed the warning he gives you during the initial spiel. NOTE - If you hit him one time after his initial cool down lesson, there is a chance you can die. No one seems to know when the getfriendhit counter resets, but until it does one erroneous hit could get you killed. SAVE OFTEN!!
There are no quest markers for tracking Illi.
Illi does NOT ride a horse. If you mount a horse he goes into wait mode. When you dismount he will teleport to you. He will also teleport to you if he gets to far away from you when he's following you, as per my old Valeria companion. The difference here is that he won't teleport into you like the old Valeria did.
Oblivion Gates - These are completely automatic now. No more safety markers. Enter a gate, grab the sigil, and know Illi will be there when you get out with all his goodies intact.
For Oblivion Gates I recommend tapping the activate key repeatedly on a sigil stone, or holding down the activate key until the use cursor disappears, when activating a sigil stone to exit Oblivion. This will assure Illi's sigil activation script picks up the keypress neeed to get him out of Oblivion safely.
Auto repair script will run 10 seconds after every battle. This repairs/recharges stock as well as custom armor, weapons, staves, etc.
Illi IS set to essential and you cannot change that in-game. If you jack with that setting in the CS, you'll probably end up breaking the mod. I HIGHLY advise you to leave that setting alone.
Illi is a vague cousin of the D&D Alhoon, as such the update for July 8 has added a leveled spell pack to Illi's spell list strictly for summoning undead creatures and Nivea's new textures which help complete the overall "Alhoonic" look.

4. Known mods that will conflict with Illi
**********************************************
Duke Patricks Basic Combat Geometry - something in that mod causes permanent damage to Valeria, so I'm sure it will affect Illi as well as he uses Valeria's AI foundation. This results in Illi going into a healing loop. Not sure what the deal is there as I don't run SCA's mods, and this particular mod doesn't seem to be available for download anymore. This was reported and verified by another player using Duke Patrick's Basic Combat Geometry 1.6 and Valeria 2.04.

5. Known Bugs/Annoyances/Issues

If Illi, by chance, should not respond when you click (activate) him: Save the game. Exit the game. Restart the game and load your save. Everything should be fine then.
Illi's combat array will cause some minor stuttering when it's filling the array and when it's erasing the array.
There's an OBSE loop that runs to look for other followers (companions) to add to Illi's faction. That should significantly cut down on companion in-fighting. This loop runs every time the number of followers changes. It may cause a quick stutter.
Illi's "sit when you sit package", does not like Olav's Tap & Tack in Bruma for some reason. Illi tries to go down the hall to get to whatever furniture he's looking for and will stop at the wall and go in circles. Everywhere else appears to work just fine.
It is HIGHLY recommended that you do NOT use this companion in the arena. Most companions have issues in the arena. Illi is no exception to that rule.
Illi will have problems with mods that modify player stats like fatigue, etc. If you're using a mod that modifies player attributes/stats, I would advise you to test it out and see if it messes with Illi's stats. These types of mods are not something I use personally, so I'm not going to be testing them for compatibility.
I HIGHLY suggest that you SAVE before you go into an Oblivion Gate, just in case something goes screwy. The safety scripting works, but I can't and won't guarantee it will work 100% of the time. One hiccup, lag, another script doing something processor intensive while the sigil stone activator script is running, etc., could result in a variable not getting set and Illi getting stuck in a closed Oblivion Gate.
This mod is not 100% dummy proofed. It shouldn't have to be. If you purposely do stupid things trying to break the mod, you will more than likely succeed. In doing so you will also succeed in getting added to my ignore list if you ask for help afterwards ;-)

6. Worldspace/Cell Edits

This mod affects no stock cells or worldspaces. One custom interior cell is used to house Illi's markers. The Underdark mod, that this mod uses as a master, does affect various cells. You'll need to check out the Underdark readme for more info on that.

Please make sure that isn't the problem before you have me digging through scripts wondering what I screwed up.
If you have an problem with this mod, please contact me and I'll get the issue fixed. Don't take it upon yourself to fix the particular issue and release it on your own. Sorry, but after the seeing so many fiascos on varios forums I felt it necessary to add this in to avoid any confusion.
You do NOT have permission to use this mod, or any pieces of it, that are of my creation. This means the actual scripting/AI engine. This new AI engine for Valeria and Illi is going to remain unique and not be competing against Revived, Redone, or Re-heated versions of themselves, nor will it be made into some generic partner mod.
The repair/recharge script, and share scripts are used with permission from Sulteric Drums. If you want to use those, you'll need to contact him: [email protected]
The meshes/textures belong to the Underdark team. The re-textures were done by Nivea. Permission should be obtained from both the Underdark team and Nivea before using Illi's meshes or textures.
The robe/robe retextures are AlienSlof's. Permission for their use needs to be obtained from her before you use them in any of your mods.
